The UOL homepage edited the photo and overzealously edited a close-up to negatively exploit the image of the state governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Yeda Crusius (PSDB party), during a heated discussion with protestors demanding her impeachment in front of her home in the city of Porto Alegre this Thursday (16) morning.

According to the news article six people were arrested during the protest.

Then in the morning, the “Album of the Day” column led with a wider shot, perhaps the original photograph with two other people in the frame, one of which was a child.

In the afternoon, the photo was reedited to exploit a less than favorable close-up of the governor. The image was given less importance on the homepage.

Unintended or not, editing an image “comments” on the headline giving it a new angle. The State is going through a serious crisis and the governor may be removed from office.

It would not be unreasonable for readers to suppose UOL was taking sides.

In the evening, the article was still there given less importance and the photo had been reedited a third time.
